Whilst the underlying principles are unchanged, the look, feel and functionality are so different that in my opinion, you'd be ill-advised to try to learn current versions from a guide to V10.

Your bad debt provision is the amount that you think won't ultimately be paid. Quite how Sage is expected to that is beyond me!

Yes. However when I try to e mail an individual report it says I have not set up the report email system yet. But it works without demurr if you run it for all of them? That's odd. If you're running an email report and getting that response it's usually because either a) you haven't set up the email...

Well, whichever way you go it's going to be ugly and painful... Firstly - stop the rot. Make sure each debtor is billed on a single account in future. Secondly - tidy up the mess. I think I'd go for a minimum change approach. That's to say, try to allocate payments without adjustments. If it works, ...

checking for errors in the data being backed up doesn't guarantee that the backup will be successful or restorable. USB stick, perchance? Restore your previous backup? Restore the backup to another PC and see what happens? Re-input the missing accounts? Start with a blank set of data and reconstruct...

File > Maintenance > reindex & compress may help, but I'm more inclined to suspect that it's the file system that needs maintenance - e.g. defrag with a serious tool like diskeeper.

the manual? it's on a pdf on the disc and in your program directory, if i recall correctly
