Sage errors

Post by lightheart » 01 Feb 2008, 10:56

Hi All
I use sage line 50 ver 9

When I log in under manager and go into invoicing then click on search I get a message "Sage.exe has generated an error and will be closed by windows. You need to restart sage. An error log is being created"
It does this every time I try it, but not when I log in under another user name.
Sage does something similar with another user name I use when I log in under it and go into the customers section it produces the same error when I click on search.

I backed up the data and loaded it into another installation of sage on another machine and the same errors do not occur.

I would be tempted to do a reinstall of sage and restore my data exept I have some bespoke software attached to sage by sdo codes and I will have to contact the venfor who can sometimes be fairly unhelpful.

I would appreciate any feedback on this problem.

To confirm.

It is a user specific problem.
Only happens with one user all the others are okay.

Sage has a number of user specific settings that are stored. It sounds like one of these has got corrupted.

Resetting the users setting should fix the problem, thing like favourites and toolbars settings will revert to the standard installation defaults.

Please backup first.

The easiest way to do this is to browse to the data folder in windows, there you will find a folders called ACCDATA and TaskOpt in them you will find a number of files called for each user with a bunch of different file extensions. Delete all the "manager" user files. Sage will recreate them when you next log in as manager and all should be well.
