Emailing Statements from Sage Line 50 ver9

Post by lightheart » 14 Jul 2015, 16:28

Hi

I was wondering if I could get any advice.

I run Sage line 50 ver 9(yes it is very old)
I would like to email statements from it but have a problem

When I highlight a customer then choose statement and then choose email statement it produces the statement on screen fine.
If I then click on email at bottom of screen a box appears saying "the best way to preserve the format of the report is to send it as a HTML attachment(rather than plain txt Would you like to use this format?"
and it has a yes and No button in box
When I press yes it produces another box saying "error during report email the report could not be sent , please check your email program, The error code reported was 2."

I can send the statment by plain txt by pressing the No button and the email pops up ready for me to enter the recipiants email.

HTML would be much neater so if anyone has any idea what Im doing wrong Id be very greatful for any help or advice.

thanks

In V9 the requirement was for a mapi compliant email system to send mail.

What email client are you using?

What operating system are you using?

Does outlook work okay?
Is it set as the default email client?

Hi
Yes Outlook is working fine and if I choose no to html then I can send the statement as txt and the email pops up so I can fill in the recipients name.

Strange.

Can you run a report and then export it to html and see if that works.

The problem is that Outlook Express is not sufficiently compliant with MAPI to work.

Have you considered upgrading to a newer version of Sage, the latest version offers SMTP, works with win 8 does PDF's and loads more.

I offer a 5% discount - Instant accounts is enough for a lot of people and is a lot cheaper.
