Sorting in date order

Post by maxf » 08 Jun 2010, 14:02

I am trying to edit a customer statement report to produce the report in invoice date order. I am running Sage 50 v16. I picked up one of the reports already in Sage and have been editing that to provide the additional information we need. The only thing left to do to it is to get it to sort in invoice date order. I have tried adding a sort under Data to sort the report in Audit_Header.Date order, but no change to the ordering of the data. I have tried adding in a group for Audit_Header.Date and by deleting the Header_Number group already on the report I finally got the report to sort in date order. Unfortunately, deleting the Header_Number group led to the report showing a running total for the invoice values rather than the individual invoice totals. Any suggestions on what to try next gratefully received.

Eureka! I have managed to solve the problem. After first referring back to a previous post (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=991&p=3027&hilit=so ... a379#p3027) and then by adding in a second group for Audit_Header.Header_Number, making sure the original Header_Number group was moved down the order to come after the two new ones I have added, then hid all the groups I did not want visible. I can't believe how difficult it has been - is there a simpler way?

I think you mean audit_header.date as the section you added.

Easier? What would be easier than adding a section?

Not doing anything would be easier. Sorting in date order should be the default.

Sorting in date order can be very confusing if you add a back dated transaction having it in order of entry is useful.
