Line 50 V11.01 File locking

Post by PaulKendrick » 22 May 2007, 15:09

Hi all.
My network is a 2K3 and XP Pro. All new Dell machines. Running Sage Line 50 over a CAT5 Network. Simple i think you will agree.
the problem has been and remains the case that the file locking in sage seems to be a little harsh. if one of my users runs a report, which can take upto 5-10 minutes depending on the size of the report, all other sage users are locked in the screen they are in. I ran Filemon on the 2K3 server and you can see the Account.dta sharing violation that it throws up.
does anyone know if it is even possible to make the locking either go away or at least take a little less time. I know this all sounds impossible but im at wits end with sage now. any suggestions welcome

You suggest you have Cat 5 cabling installed to Cat 5e standard.

What speed network are you running?.

The recommendation is Gigabit.

The network is on CAT5 but not 'E' so the LAN is running at 100Mbps

Performance is probably limited by network speed.
