Search Query

Post by doinktheclown » 30 Jun 2014, 10:49

Hi

Another question from a beginner.

I have noticed that when searching on Sage, the search bar only finds search words if they are in order.

For example when searching for products, if I searched for 'Apple banana carrot' I would get results, however with 'Banana carrot apple', nothing would be returned. Unlike other search engines which come back with anything that contains the words in any sequence, the Sage search engines seems to be a lot less useful.

Is there anything that I would be able to do about this?

Thanks in advance.

Sage quick search is not a search engine like Google it is more like "find" like in a word processor.

There are no "Keywords" there is just text, it is also case sensitive, to add to it all the database is pretty inefficient so try doing it on 5000 customers and things get tiresome very quickly.

You could do it as a Standard Search

Where Description equals *apple*
or Description equals *carrot*
or Description equals *banana*

Is there anything you can do about it? Yes but no.

You need to arrange things to not need that sort of searching or do that sort of searching externally or something else.
