Hmmn... interesting idea.

There is nothing in Sage to do that.

I think I might be able to do something externally, not sure, what would you do if there was not enough stock to allocate later on?

I did a project some time ago where we used our standard back to back code to create purchase orders from sales orders, we then went on to watch for the order being delivered and when it was delivered to allocate the stock to that order.

Thanks for the reply, not having enough stock isn't a problem. The main issue is we have orders dated for delivery up to 9 months in advance and I'm trying to stop stock being tied up to these allocations before it is required or needed to be ordered.

Other than setting a manual reminder to set the allocations when required I can't think of any other solution. Unfortunately our suppliers don't work to requested dates to well either.

Any ideas would be grateful.

you can use the due date on the order to establish when orders are due.

You can use a search to find all orders due before date XX/XX/XXXX

You can then allocate all stock to all orders due before XX/XX/XXXX

You could do this once per week, it would take 5 mins.

You could also do the inverse and find all order due after date XX/XX/XXXX

And de allocate any stock on those orders.
