Printing soooo slow in Line 50 2012

Post by Gil Smith » 18 Mar 2012, 23:09

We have just had a small peer to peer network installed with a NAS drive and 4 PCs running Windows 7. Usually there are no more than 2 people accessing sage at one time.

When we print from any computer it can take 2 -3 minutes to print an invoice , sales order etc. The report window showing the different layouts can take 2 minutes to load. Does anyone know if it would be quicker if each PC had the reports installed locally?

I doubt the problem is related to the location of the reports folder.

You can always deselect the option to use data path for reports and see if it does make a difference.

If the data is on a NAS drive, then I suspect the problem is that Windows 7 is trying to use SMB2 to talk tot he NAS drive. Many NAS drives do not support SMB2.

I suggest updating the NAS drive to one that supports SMB2, using a Win7 workstation as a server or disabling SMB2 on all the Win7 workstations.

Thanks Bruce,

The SMB2 bit is a bit technical for me but I put the data on a little used workstation and printing reports is 6x quicker. The invoice report browser now activates in 5 seconds whereas before it could easily take 30 seconds.

Thanks for your help,

Gil

If it is part of a network that could cause buffer times... but not usually 10 minutes. Try completely uninstalling the printer and starting from scratch, plugged directly into your computer via usb, if possible.

Thanks john syeed.salman.shah@gmail.com or is it admin@printinggood.co.uk for that off topic response, nice of you to contact us all the way from Pakistan.

Normally I delete spam from the forums, but as you work for what appears to be a rip off company I thought I would leave it with the email address so that the other spammers can harvest it.

"Printing Good" does not sound like a good business to work with (a name that is grammatically poor in the first place).

This link is to a site warning people off these guys, so keep clear of them.
