Problems printing my purchase orders

Post by crawleyclaire » 08 Aug 2011, 10:44

I have been using sageline 50 mainly to invoice customers and keep track of accounts. I have only just begun to process my purchase orders but cannot seem to print them.
Once I have the P.O done up, I click on print and the purchase order print box opens, but it doesnt list the prining options as when printing an invoice. It only shows the 'invoice' folder icon and 'sop' folder and when I click on either of these nothing opens. I have personalised a purchase order template through report designer, as I do for the invoices, but it isnt showing up and neither the 'generate' 'edit' or 'delete' buttons are highlighted......
Is there something I need to activate to locate the print templates?

Much appreciated

Sounds strange.

All the layouts are stored in the "layouts" folder, there should be a bunch of layouts in there for printing purchase orders

If not let me know the version of sage 50 you are using and I will make a layout backup you can restore to fix the issue.

Hi Bruce,

thank you for getting back to me.
I did manage to get a layout to select for purchase orders by messing around and trial and error, and it worked for a couple of days......until today!! :x I have gone it to print a purchase order out and the layout that had been saved in the file has disappeared and I cannot seem to get it to show again on the print purchase order file window.....very very strange. This is the only report that doesn't seem to work.

On the report designer, all the layouts are located and can be viewed in full, once I go back into sage and click on print, it brings up the same problem, there are no report/templates showing and neither the 'generate' 'edit' or 'delete' buttons are highlighted again...

I would be extremely grateful for the layout backup....

many thanks again

Thanks for that ....
Restoring the layout back up didnt work unfortunately.....
I am wondering is the link lost betweenthe purchase order print window to the layouts in the sage document folder, that would explain why the layouts will not come up. But I wouldnt have a clue where to go to see if this is the case.

Try in the demo data and see if you can see and use PO layouts that are in there.

Have a look in the layouts directory and see if you can see all the layout fles eg PURVAT11.layout. Are there any subdirectories there?

All the layout directory files are there, if I highlight the purchase order job, then go into report designer and select the layout I want...it will work, but it is a lot of hassle going back and forth into the report designer. It seems to be the link from sage to the layout files that are missing/wont connect. Would it be a driver problem?

I think I would need to look at it to see what is happening.

Perhaps the easiest solution would be to do a clean reinstall.
