Product Deleting

Post by Acelamps » 12 Jul 2011, 11:03

Hello

Hoping that someone can help. I am trying to delete products on sage line 50 and it wont let me. All the products that I am trying to delete are discontinued.

If I delete the products that are discontinued will these still show up in the order history.

Many thanks for looking

If you delete the products, then their stock transactions will also be deleted. So there will be no history for that record (it is actually the other way around, you have to remove all history before you can delete)

However, the items will still be on old invoices, sales and purchase orders.

And each one of them will result in a Warning in Check Data relating to the deleted stock item.

One of the annoying features of clearing stock is that you have to clear ALL stock to a particular date. Loosing history on unrelated products.

If you have archives then this is not such a big deal, there is no need to keep all those old invoices and orders either. (Or get the warnings in check data.)

A moderately good work around is to create an "Obsolete Stock" category and then use searches to hide those dead products from view until year end when you can make an archive, clear the stock transactions and then actually delete them.

Fortunately I have a tool to break the rules, I can clear stock on just one product code and delete it whilst leaving everything else behind.

We have the same problem.

This tool that you have, is that something that we could use as well?
