Problem running Check Data option

Post by srpgibbs » 16 Jun 2011, 13:34

Hi,

I'm running Sage 2008 V14.0.12.153, on a desktop running XP service pack 3, single user license.

When I try to run the Check Data option the egg timer appears and when I look in Task Manager it advises that Sage is not responding. Also, I do get problems when updating a Customer file with a message "waiting to open:<cust name>.SLM.

I have had no problems with backing the application up and the data all appears fine.

Any ideas what might be the problem?

If Check Data is hanging then it is possible that you have data corruption, try the following:

1. Take a backup.
2. Run the Clear Audit Trail routine with a date of 01/01/1980.
3. In File -> Maintenance, run both ReIndex & Compress.
4. Run Check Data again.

Thanks John, I'll give that a go.

You might want to go back to the last good backup (when check data could run) if there is no joy with Johns suggestion.
