Sage Data on Server

Post by Emily » 08 Sep 2010, 13:01

I don't know if what I'm trying to do is actually possible, but here goes:

I have a single user copy of Sage50 Accounts 2009 on which I run 2 companies. I am the sole user of one company and therefore the data is on my C drive. However I work for a second company that uses Sage on a server. At the moment I have dumb data, but would really like to be able to get my version of Sage to look at the server for this one company.

I've tried to do it in the Company file, and it had hysterics, saying that I needed to check the company file and icon properties. I'd open my other company first and then try to open company 2, at which point I would be told that no more users could log on at present, when I knew from accessing Sage from another computer wasn't the case.

I've put all the settings back to default, but have run out of ideas. Can I get my PC to access this networked data, or do I have to work from back ups?

No, Unfortunately not. I'm running Line50 2009, and they're running a version of Client Manager (or something). Fall back position was to get me to go in through Remote Desktop, but it's still throwing a hissy fit!

Client Manager is just another version of Sage 50, you need to do help>about in both application and check they are the same Version

eg 16.0.17.0156

When you edited your company file did you use a simple plain text editor, such as notepad, or did you user something with its own format, such as Open Office, Word, Wordpad, Works or ...
