Running network version locally whilst out of office
Running network version locally whilst out of office
Hi, as a small business I sometimes need data with me when travelling.
have a network version of sage and want to run it as a standalone whilst out of office (I know data will get ouit of date but I will just reload a backup).
I cannot find my original installation disks.
Is there a simple way of changing the installation to run standalone.
The standalone laptop will NOT have to be converted back to run on the network.
Many thanks

Sage runs stand alone on workstations, it is just the path to the data you need to change.
I can make yo a backup CD if you need for a few £'s

Re: Running network version locally whilst out of office
Thanks very much for the prompt reply.
Whilst I figured it was running locally I couldnt see where it was fulling its configuration for the file from.
I expected to find a setting in the options but now see that it needs to be done at a lower level by simply editing the company file held locally (or so it seems!!! maybe I will find it is not so easy when I get to trying it.)
Thanks though,
Excellent respinse and a great site.

Re: Running network version locally whilst out of office
The file you need to find is the "company" file it's location is dependant on the version of Sage 50 you are running.
the file contains the path to the dataset in plain text.
You just need to copy the dataset to the local machine and then change the path in the file.
You could have a pair of batch files and a pair of "master Company Files" and have shortcuts to dock and undock your laptop from the network installation
