I've recently installed Sage 50 Accounts 2009 and for some reason it has affected Excel.
When I now 'Save as' in Excel it defaults to SageLine 50. How do I change this back so that it defaults directly to my Excel files?
It's not a big problem but I would like to change it back to the way it was.

As it stands if I 'Save as' it automatically defaults to Sage Line 50. Before installing the program it used to go through 'My Documents' to 'Excel' where all my folders/files are listed.
Hope that makes sense?!?

In Excel
go to
Tools>Options and on the General tab look for Default file location

I did this and it is set up as D\Documents and Settings\Alan\My Documents\EXCEL.
I changed EXCEL to Excel and 'saved', and when I tried to 'save as' it was as I want it to be; defaulting to my Excel files.
However, if I then come out of Excel and then go back in, it goes back to defaulting to Sage Line50 and the Default file location has changed back to EXCEL not Excel.
It's not a big problem but just an annoyance that I can't get it right!
Regards,

If you go back and check is it still saying
D:\Documents and Settings\Alan\My Documents\EXCEL
I assume the missing colon was a typo.
I can't reproduce your problem, so it is hard to help, what version of Excel are you using?

Just to be 100% clear.
Create a new sheet and press Crtl-S
what location does it prompt you with to save the file?

If I create a new Excel file and press 'Control S', the default comes up as 'Sage Line50'.

Just found out that this is a bug in the Excel add in.
Some people have managed to work around it be enabling the "Sage Integrated Reporting Excel97 Linkage" as well.

I have just installed sage 50 accounts professional 2010 vs16 and have the same problem with excel defaulting to Sage Line50.
Bug still appears to be there. Anyone know how to fix it?
Excel is 2002.

Just found out how to fix it !
Go into Excel, Tools, Add-ins and remove the tick on the Sage add-in.
Excel defaults back to the folder set up in Options, General.
Job done!!!

Hi, Try this it worked out for me.
The following fix worked for me:
Open Excel
Click View, Toolbars, Customize
Click New to add a new toolbar – the default name ‘Custom 1′ is OK
Click the Commands tab and select Tools from the left column. Scroll down the right column to COM Add-Ins and drag this to the new toolbar.
Click Close to close the customise screen
Click on COM Add-Ins on the new toolbar and untick Sage Integration Option.
Close the new toolbar
Click View, Toolbars, Customize
Select Custom 1 from the Toolbars tab a click Delete to remove it.
Your Excel default directory should now revert to ‘My Documents’ or your chosen alternative
