Problems with backing up to other than A: drive

Post by Strider » 21 Aug 2006, 08:51

I have had a number of problems backing up my Sage Line 50 data to a drive other than the default. I regularly want to back up to CD and Sage tells me that the drive is invalid, that I do not have permission to access the drive or that it cannot find the drive. This is despite the drive being tested and working with a clean new CD-R or CD-RW in the bay. Something similar happens (but only occasionally) when using a USB pen drive to hold the data.

It goes without saying that my Windows XP Professional system is properly installed, regularly tested and working properly in other respects.

Is there anyone out there who has experienced similar problems and has found a solution?

Does anyone know of a way to change the default location for backups so that I don't have to go through the routine of selecting the appropriate drive and folder each time we back up data?

You can not copy files to CD-R's unless you have some special software running such as in-cd.

This is why sage will not let you back up to the drive.

I suspect the occasional problems with the rom are just drivers failing to load properly un-plugging and re-plugging the usb device should resolve this.
