Charity Funds module and balance sheet

Post by Hector » 10 Aug 2006, 16:42

Anyone else trying to use the charity Funds module (Sage Line 50 Accountant v 12) and found a way of allocating control accounts and fixed assets to funds so you get a functioning balance sheet and accurate funds? My accountant friend says because transactions coded to the balance sheet nominals can't be allocated a Fund too I will have to choose between accurate Funds or accurate balance sheet. I want both!! Anyone found a way of making it work?

Not sure what your problem is.

I have not used the module much but I will do my best.

I think the issue may stem from the way that Sage has assumed all funds to be cash in the bank.

So if you have some sort of fixed asset as part of a fund, you need to put it in as a bank transaction and then move it to a fixed asset account.

Moving things via a bank account might be the solution, then again, I am not that sure I understand the problem.

Can you give a specific example of the types of transaction you are trying to make that do not result in accurate funds and balance sheet.

I have 5 bank accounts and 9 funds, and there is no correlation between bank accounts and funds. It was an option I looked at, but would create havoc on a day to day basis!

What is the problem with 5 bank accounts and 9 funds?

What is it that you can't do?

What are you doing that causes the balance sheet and/or the funds to be wrong?

What I cannot do for practical reasons is make Funds and Bank accounts synonymous. ie one bank account relating only to one fund.

To have a one-to-one relationship between funds and bank accounts you would require an equal number of bank accounts as funds.

As you have 9 of one and 5 of the other it just can't be done.
