Service Items/Product Item/Memo all on same order/quote/inv

Post by coolguysvenster » 20 Mar 2009, 10:36

Hi,

My goal is to create one report layout that will cater for all of my many combinations of quotations i find myself having to create. My company is varied in the fact that i have products that can have little detail, products that require a hell of a lot of detail, service items (s3) and on the odd occasion the memo feature with comments 1 and 2. I have a system where if i am creating a order/quote entirely of 1 type of item (i.e. Service OR Product) i can just use a different layout i have created but i become stuck when i have to mix Service items with Product Items. I wish to create one report that can cater for everything.

I can't seem to figure out a compatible way to achieve the following.

- A "Details" section of the layout that i can format for how i want my Service items to appear.
- A "Details" section of the layout that i can format for how i want my Product items to appear.
- To be able to create a quote with a veriety of Service/Product Items and for it to display all of them on the same document rarther than miss them out.

My service items use the Details and Desctiption fields of the input screen.

My Product items use the Description, Web Description, Web Details, Weight, and various other values from the Product Record.

this is the reason i need a layout that can print both on the same document, and format each in a different manner.

I would appreciate your help with this.

Many Thanks in Advance,

Steve

If you look at one of the standard A4 layouts you will see that there are multiple sections in the middle, one is for Service items and one is for Product items, there is a filter to exclude either one of them depending on if the service flag is set.

Either work from this layout and adapt it to your needs or add an extra section and the filters to make your existing layout work the same way.
