Sage 2008 v14 Multi Company - 'Access Denied' Error Message

Post by jpw » 15 Mar 2009, 11:24

Computers: Win Xp Pro - SP3
Sage: Line 50 Accounts plus 2008 - 2sompany - 2 user license.
Network setup: workgroup

Okay we have recently changed the server and had to obvioulsy reinstall sage and set that up.

Computers:
Sever - hosts 001 company data
Client 1 - Access to company 001 over network
Client 2 - Access to company 001 over network and has additional company (000 installed locally in the default folder)

Client PC's have drive mapped to data folder and Client 1 can access Sage data no problem. However, on Client 2 it can access company 000, but can't access company 001 over the netowork and I get 'Access Denied' error message.

When the multi company screen appears It does display both companies and their names with the path to the data folder.

I have turned simple file sharing off on the server Pc and as far as am aware changed all settings to 'Full Control' in the sharing setup of the folder I wish to access. But what confuses me is that client 1 can access sage without a problem but on client 2 trying to access the same thing over the network I just get that 'Access Denied' error message. Surely if client 1 can access it then client 2 should be able to.

Just a little perplexed at the moment.

try saving a word document to the company directory to see if you do have access rights to it.
