Upgrade from V6 to V12

Post by joebhoy » 09 Oct 2008, 08:31

Hi,

Totalyy new to sage and need to upgrade version from 6 to 12. To be exact. I'm installing a fresh copy of v12 on a new machine and want to restore data from V6 on old machine. Is this just a matter of running the sage backup on V6 and restoring on V12. I Also want to keep the Document templates etc.

Any help / advice appreciated

Regards

Joe.

No, you will need to send your data away to be upgraded.

Sage tech will do this for free as part of your 45 days support.

Otherwise a friendly company like ours will help you for a small fee (probably turn it around quicker to)

Bruce,

Surely when doing File/Restore, v12 will automatically upgrade the data from v6 to be compatible with v12?

Yes, I have just checked in the Help Files of Sage Line 50 v12, and it will read v6 data files.

Mmm.. Thanks for that. I would be interested to know what data needs to be sent away to be converted if it says in the help files that this can be done OK.

Cheers

Joe.

Hi thanks for the reply. When you say no errors first. What do you mean (no nothing about sage)
Do you mean reported errors after the upgrade ?
and if there are errors ?

Cheers

Joe.

He means that no errors should be reported, when you run the data check option in File>Maintenance before you upgrade
