How to clear unused companies from the list of companies

Post by smcmahon » 03 Jun 2008, 10:29

Probably a basic question but when you are presented with the list of companies, how can you delete some from the list?

We changed the paths to network drives but the original paths still show up on the list and we find it confusing.

Can you help![/b]

Hi,

The initial list of companies when 1st starting the program comes from a file called (not surprisingly) "COMPANY" in the main program directory.

If you have done a standard install of the program, you should find the file in the following location:

C:\Program Files\Sage\Accounts

Once you have located the COMPANY file you will note it is a file that is not associated with anything (eg: not recognised by windows).
However, this is not a problem - simply right-click on the file and then choose OPEN from the pop-up menu.
You can then choose NOTEPAD to edit the file with and from that point on it will all become self explanatory - just delete the data path entries for the companies you no longer want to use. Save the file and you are done !

Note: As this is a local program file, you will have to make this modification on all of your client machines in your network.

Hope this helps :D
