Aged Creditors V Nominal Balance

Post by emma » 05 Dec 2007, 21:12

Hi,

I have noticed that my aged creditors balance is different to the balance on my creditors control account on the nominal ledger.

I believe the difference between the two relates to payments on accounts that were made during the year.

Has anybody any ideas how I can correct the balances so they agree to each other?

Thanks
Emma

Emma, the error was probably introduce by someone posting a journal to the control account an "accountants year end adjustment" would be a probable cause.

The accountant wants it, Sage doesn't.

The compromise is to create an auditors adjustment account adjacent to the control account for these sorts of adjustments in future.

To fix the issue now, journal from the control account to the auditors adjustment account to move the adjustment journal out of the control account.

You need to verify the cause is a prior year adjustment journal from the accountants, it could be data errors or something else in which case this is not appropriate.
