Problems with emailing pdf attachments

Hi there,
I'm using Sage Line 50 v12. on Windows 7. This system has been running for years with only the occasional problem, but now I've suddenly lost the ability to email pdf copies of invoices. I use Thunderbird as the email software.
I can print absolutely fine. I can run the invoice and select "Save", then change it to a pdf type and it works, so the AmyUmi convertor seems to be working correctly.
If I go under "Invoice List" and select "Generate Report" I get an error "One of the messages produced by the report could not be sent, and it could not be saved to your mailbox"
If I go to "Preview" first I can choose email as browser or word and it correctly sends to Thunderbird as an attachment. If I select Adobe Acrobat at that point I get an error "The report could not be sent, please check your e-mail program. The error code reported was 2."
As far as I can tell, error code 2 seems to be a MAPI error, but as the other email options are working that doesn't seem likely.
Any other ideas that you can think of?
