Clearing the Audit Trail will reduce the number of headers and splits.
However, there are quite a few gotchas along the way that can prevent things clearing, transaction chaining being the most difficult one to overcome.
Try clearing it at your next year end.
If you want to clear before your year end, you need to check there are no transactions backdated to the period you plan to clear in the current year, by that I mean after the year end journal from your last year end. If you clear current year records they may disappear and not appear in this years figures so V important not to mess up when doing this, hence suggestion people only do it at the year end.
