This error occurs on older versions of Sage 50 because the digital signatures on the executable files have been revoked.
You can check this by navigating to the file, right clicking on it looking at properties digital signature.
There are a number of bad ways to fix this, disabling protection on the system.
I did not want to weaken the security and found an alternative method to work around this.
The issue is that the file has a signature and the signature has been revoked.
I found a program "FileUnsigner" which removes the signature. The unsigned file will now run (in compatibility mode when run as an administrator for V2010) this strategy should work with any other version with the same issue.
