I am using Sage v11 (00.0016)
My operating system is Windows XP.
The bank balance is in credit by about £15,000. THere is a supplier invoice awaiting payment. I want to pay that invoice. I go into Bank....Supplier, select the supplirt and the invoice is listed (it's about £5000). I put the payment amount in the relevant payment box and Click on Save. My bank balance shows as £10,000 (approx) in black (correct).
However if I close the view and re-open it or do a backup/restore, suddenly exactly the same balance is showing in red. It does not have a minus sign in front of it and it is in credit.
What's happening and is it important????

The bank account goes red when you exceed your overdraft facility, this is only a warning indicator it has no other significance.
Perhaps you entered the wrong value for your limit?

Thanks Bruce but what is mystifying me is that the bank balance is NOT in overdraft - it is healthily just over £10,000 when it goes red.
I have tried to see if there is a pattern to when it does it by constantly restoring backups and doing test invoices and payments. It seems to be related to some sort of cumulative total of invoice payments for one supplier. Could this be right?

The figure set for the minimum balance is typically the overdraft facility, I suspect you have this set to £10000
