How can I search my stock for a specific item using the orders made by me to each supplier? Is it possible or do I have to manually search each order for a specific item?

WHen I raise an order from a certain supplier, I want to be able to find items from previous orders from each supplier.
For instance, if I order paint brushes from Company A, I want to be able to search previous orders from that company to find the price and code etc from the previous order. Currently I am opening each order and looking through it to find the items. Not very efficient.

You want to know what it cost in the past.

Sage will always prompt you with what you paid last time.

If you look on the product history, the price (per item) of the previous purchases appears in the stock history along with the qty, look for the GI transactions.

I want to know if a particular supplier was thte one to supply us with a particular item.
I want to be able to search through ORDERS to find an item, ratrher than open each order to look through them all just guessing at a date.

Sage does not provide you with a direct way to do that.

I suggest that the way to resolve this is to create an excel spreadsheet.

Link it to the PO Items table using ODBC data source

Then use an auto filter to limit the view just to the one product, you will then be able to see the history for that product across several suppliers.

When you need to look this up you open the spreadsheet and filter the list to the product you want. (set it to auto refresh on open)

With some versions of Excel you may need to find the original install CD to get MS query installed.

If you want me to do it for you, it would be about a 30min Job use the contact link below to get in touch.

Many thanks for the help everyone. Thanks for the possible solution Bruce.

Well, for the price of Sage Line 50 I feel VERY let down. I really did not expect to have to use outside solutions. If I had known that I would have just used XL for everything. It seems like a very ordinary thing to want to do. Search by product to find orders which contain that product.

Oh well, time to scrazp Sage and find something logical.
