Is there any way in which more than 3 lines of text (each currently limited to some 50 characters) to the note box, under the details tab of the purchase order dialog box.

No (They are limited to 60 Chars)

BUT

You can add Message lines to the order if you need to add instructions to the supplier etc.

These are done with the M product code.

You could also add an service line with no price in which case you can put a lot of text in the memo field.

This is done with the S3 product code.
