sage 50 v.21 2015

Hi

We have been using Sage 50 accounts for 20 years, we have just upgraded to the latest subscription version 2015. Now when we come to print most reports, they are missing characters on the left and right hand side, they were all ok on the previous version. some reports are still ok, however yesterday I printed off some P&L reports and this fault occurred, also when I printed off the debtors list, that too was missing off two characters off the account number and two characters off the older column.

Any ideas? as trying to get Sage to help is impossible!

Regards

Stephen

Sounds more like a printer margin issue, did you change anything other than sage?

Cheaky Question:
Any reason why you didn't buy subscription through me and get a rebate?.

Hi

Not me. the company I work for, they have the payroll on a contract and decided to upgrade to the subscription version of 2015. We haven't changed a thing, all worked fine until we upgraded to the new version now some reports are missing characters.

Is this Payroll or accounts?

On the screen does everything look okay or are the charterers cut off as well?

I am thinking this could be a paper size issue, perhaps the layout is an 11" layout printing on A4 or something like that?

Could you export a report to pdf and see what size the paper is?

Is it every report or just some?

Is this a standard report, if so what section is it in so I can take a look.

The printer you are using, is it set to A4 paper as the default?

Hi

If you go into customers, reports, aged debtors, it is called "aged debtors analysis contacts" CSTAGEC

I have tried printing it on two printers and it does the same thing, the printer is set to A4

That report does have very small margins.

On the screen does everything look okay or are the characters cut off there as well?

In the PDF does it look okay?

Can you print the PDF to the printers okay?

on the screen and pdf they look ok, the a/c number and older column are very close to the edges, but when you print it seems to miss off a character or two at each end of the paper.

My thought is that your printer just doesn't print that close to the edge of the paper and is cutting it off.

What version had you been on before upgrading, I have gone back though all the versions and the margins changed between V2012 and V2013 on that report attached are PDFs from 2012 and 2015 and you can see it is wider now than it was.

I can see 3 potential solutions:-

It may be possible in the printer driver to make it "shrink the page to fit".

Replace the printer with one that prints to the edge of the page.

You can alter the report to scrunch things up a bit and make larger margins like in the older version.

Hi again

I don't think they will want to get a new printer, as the printer is the office one which is on a lease and the little canon inkjet I have on my desk I use to print labels, but even on that it is missing off characters.

If the current report is stating margins of l 5.08 r 5.08 t12.7 b25.4, what do you recommend I change them to? also in report designer is there anything else I could do in there?

One last question is if I change anything in the report and save it, is there a way to restore it back to original?

The new improved one overwrite the old ones. You could give it a different name etc. Bit not much harder to just alter the layout.

Edit it.

Move the fields together.

Save.

Morning.

Can you tell me what the margins were on the 2012 version? I am thinking if I change the 2015 margins to the 2012 margins, it might work, also what about getting the reports from 2012 and copying those into the 2015 version?

Thanks again

Stephen
