Hi there
I am having a problem with my Sage 50 accounts. Last week everything was working fine and has been for months. When I came into the office today its working fine on the pc were using as the server but on the client machines when were opening up sage it comes up:-
'Unable to connect to the Sage Data Service on machine server.
Please ensure this service is running.'
I have done the usual rebooting all machines. Restarted the Sage Data Service on all Machines and checked the fire wall settings. It is still coming up with the same message and I cant think of what else it could be.
Im using Sage 50 accounts v21.4.7.159 all on windows 7 pc's
If anyone could help it would be great.
Thanks
John

Are you sure the PC acting as the server is the same version number as the clients?

Reboot the server PC. When it has rebooted reboot a client.

Check you can access the sage file share on the server PC from the client pc.

Eg \\serverpc\sageshare\company.001

Check that sage on the client pc is set to use this as its data source by checking the contents of the company file. The company file is typically in the directory c:\programdata\sage\accounts\2015. You can open it with notepad to read the contents.

Hi there
I have re booted all the machines again. Sage on the server machine is still working, It is now working on one of the client pc's and worked on the other for about 30 seconds before logging off and saying the same warning message. The data service is obviously working on the server machine because 1 of the computers is pulling the data off it. All pc's are on the save version of Sage as I updated them all at the beginning of last week.
Have you any ideas.
John

Check all the PC's are in the homegroup/domain so that the correct firewall rules are applied.
