Hello
We have just installed Sage 50 accounts on to a win 8.1 pc and restored the last backup on to the pc, all the other layouts are showing except my letters.
They are on the pc, but not showing in the letters option.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Did you restore a full backup or a data only backup?

I did a full backup, I can see the letters in the letters folder, but the only ones' visible in Sage are the standard ones, not all the extra ones' I have created over the years

I have double clicked one of the files (explore) they open but if I then save the file it still does not show up in Sage?

Perhaps you are looking at the wrong letters folder.
Try editing one of the standard ones and saving it with a strange name, see if it appears in the folder, if not search your pc for the strange name.

If you create a file and it does not appear in the directory you are looking at then you are not looking at the correct letters directory.
The letters directory should be adjacent to the data (accdata) directory in the data path.

C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2013\Company.000\Letters
When I open Sage, it only shows the standard letters, other letters which are in this folder are all the chase letters, which I am trying to use. I chose the address letter and re-saved it with a different name and that does show.
If for example I via explorer I double click chase1.letter it opens report designer and if I try to re-save it, it will save it, but when I go into sage and choose the letters option it does not show up. The only letters showing are the payment reminders, address change, gift aid and the transaction email letters.

What is the Data Path?
What version are you using?
Earlier you said 2012. The path above is 2013.

Hello again
yes sorry, it is Sage 50 accounts 2013, version 19.01.11.285. The data directory listed on the support homepage screen states:-
c:\programdata\sage\accounts\2013\company.000\accdata
program data:-
c:\program files (x86)\sage\accounts
settings directory:-
c:\programdata\sage\accounts
I just find it strange that when in sage if you click letters it doesn't show all the letters in the letters folder

Did you re-save an existing letter as I suggested with a different name and did it appear in the letters directory?

All the reports in Sage have flags in them to identify the variant they are to work with.
If you restore Sage 50 Reports to Instant for example then the reports that are Sage 50 specific do not appear.
It may be that the Chase letters have the same sort of system and are only available in "Pro" and you are running "Accounts"

If I choose one of the standard letters(remind3c) and try to re-save it as sbremind3, it shows in the letters option. If I go via explorer to the folder and double click chase1.letter, it opens in report designer and if I resave that, it does not show up in the letters section in Sage.

The letters used to show up on the old pc, but not since I re-installed on to a win 8.1 pc.
