Linking Sales Orders and Purchase Orders

Hi all,

I hope that I can find some answers here, even if they are a "no"!

I have scoured the Internet trying to find out whether or not it is possible to link sales and purchase order. We are using Sage 50 Accounts Professional, and would basically like to be able to generate purchase orders for zero or low stock items from sales orders. Does anyone know if this is possible, I have really struggled to find how to do this elsewhere, so I am presuming it is not possible on our version.

Thank you in advance!

What do you mean?

Do you want to generate purchase orders from the Sales order requirement?
or orders to meet minimum stock levels?
Or both?

Do you just want to run a report in Purchase ordering and see details from the corresponding Sales order against it?

I have written back to back systems to purchase materials and have them linked to specific sales orders, and/or get them drop shipped so most things can be done.

Maybe if you could expand on what the goal is, where the pain is, I could be more helpful.

Hi Bruce,

Sorry if I didn't make it very clear - we would like to be able to generate purchase orders from the sales order requirements. We tend to buy our stock to order, so would like to be able to fill out a sales order from the salesman's stock sheet, and then have that generate the necessary purchase orders, rather than having to manually complete a PO.

Thank you for your help, I really do appreciate it.

Go into SOP and click the shortfall button, this will generate a list of all the items you need to purchase.
