end of year sage line 50

Post by melinda » 16 Apr 2007, 15:57

Hi, I started using sage last year and now need to do my end of year. I have read the book and taken back ups but what will happen when I do the year end. will evrything be deleted or will i still be able to go back to last years dat if I need to check or alter something with the accountant. Sorry if its a silly question but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
thank you

All completed transactions prior to this will be deleted.

Incomplete transactions, things that have not been reconciled in the bank, not gone on vat returns or are unpaid.

When you do the year end there is a tick box to create and archive, this is a separate company like the demo data that you can only read.

thank you, I'm more confused now as somebody else said to go ahead aslong as I don't click on clear audit trail.
What do you think about that please ?

If you don't clear the audit trail then everything will be left in the data base.

That is not a bad strategy if you have a small installation, however, after many years it will be a bit confusing.

If you have a lot of transactions, performance will suffer badly.
