Hi

Ive been trying to set up a product filter on Sage 50 to hide product records which are no longer in use. Using the search facility on the product page i have set up Join - "where" , Field "description", Condition, "Is Not Equal to", Value, "do not use". I have changed the product description of the obsolete products to include the words "Do not use". However all the products both obsolete and existing still show up. Any ideas?

"do not use" and "Do not use" are not the same.

I suggest setting the account status to closed and then using that in the filter as it is less ambiguous and you will not have issues with capitalisation of words etc. .

Thanks for the tip Bruce, ive changed the word in the product description to "Closed" and reset the search to

Join "Where" , Field "Description", Condition "Is not equal to", Value "Closed". I have then pressed the Apply button.

However the "Closed" product still features in the product list and in the product drop down menu on the sales invoicing menu. Any ideas?

Thanks

Sorry I was being brain dead...

I mean you want to use something fixed not text, for some reason I was thinking customer accounts, for products I would set up a stock category of dead products eg 99.

Better still why note delete the products and get rid of them?

Thanks Bruce

Ive changed "Stock Catergory Number " to 99 on all obsolete products and set up the filter to not select products with Stock Catergory Number 99. All obsolete products no longer feature in the product list. Many thanks for your assistance.

When you next clear stock history at a year end, you can invert the search find everything that is obsolete, swap to select them all and then hit delete to get rid of them all.
