I have done a year end but not an audit trail. Can I go back and add sales in and do a year end or can I put sales in and redo the year end. Im not sure what to do to or where to go. It is sage instants i am using. Or do I just add them onto sage and print out a copy of transactions for the accountant.

The "year end" journals all the values in the P&L account (account 4000-9999) prior to the year end into account 3200.

You can enter backdated transactions after doing this, and they will appear in the "brought forward" as part of this year.

You can journal them out and back into account 3200 by manually doing the journal.

You could also do this by posting them to 3200 instead of the P&L

Not that unless you point this out to your accountant they may get missed.

I would either
1/ Back date them and leave them in this year as a brought forward amount
2/ Enter them against 3200 or journal them out and let the accountant know about this exceptional item.
3/ Restore the backup I took prior to doing the year end and do my adjustments and redo the year end.
