Bogus items appearing on invoices

Hello

I'm hoping someone can give me some clues on this before I have no hair left.

We run Sage 50 Financial Controller 2007.

Every now and again an invoice will be populated with items taken from random other invoices.

Eg an invoice for £800 recently jumped up to over £2000 when items rom at least 5 other invoices appeared on it.

The total £ amount on the actual invoice page still shows £800 even though the other items are visible, however on the invoice list page the total is the larger amount.

When printed it shows the larger amount.

This has happened half a dozen times now and I can't see how.

Grateful for any help.

Thanks

Wayne

It sounds like the invoice item file has corruption with the 'pointers' that link the items to the invoice headers albeit, so far at least, I've only seen it in v2008 and above, not v2007.

You could try running ReIndex and Compress and see if that solves the problem.

Hopefully it will as, often, the only solution for this sort of corruption is to rebuild the invoices to completely remove them all (I have one customer who had this problem who sent his data to Sage for this very problem and all they could do was to rebuild which resulted in the loss of 100,000 invoices!!) Having said that, I have, on a couple of occasions, been able to rebuild the files without the loss of any invoice but it really does depend on the current state of the data.

John,

Thanks for the reply.

No harm in making a backup first & trying that?

Many thanks

I would go with corruption as well, reindex and compress may fix it.
