Help!!! Re-install OS data import

Hi new to this forum I have a problem with a sage program (Sage Accounts version 12.00).
I was running vista but had to down grade to xp I have ghost image of old drive but have not been able to import data without going through wizard is there a way round this any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Assuming a default installation of the software and a single company, the data would be in the folder c:\program files\sage\accounts\accdata so if you copy the contents of that folder from the ghost drive to the same folder on the new drive, you'll get your data back.

Hi john thanks for your speedy reply sorry for not noticing sooner. anyway I have done that but the sage software is looking for a password but we didn't have a password on previous version. any suggestion on how to remove any passwords on system

That would suggest one of two things:

1. The data is not from v12 and is from a later version of Sage.

2. The is a potential permissions issue (albeit it usually affects v10) which is covered in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=32

Thanks again john and yes we are using version 10 hopefully this works I'll let you know how I get on sorry again, new to this forum hopefully I'll get the hang of it soon.

I think this re-enforces my view that having a real Sage backup is the best way to backup and that ghosting, tape backups etc should only every be considered as secondary systems to backup the Sagebaclxxxxx.001 files

the permissions from the previous installation would have been restored and they would in the new context be wrong.
