Trial Balance does not balance - one sided journal?

Hi,

My TB does not balance, historically from several years ago.
This is due to some form of journal corruption.
Is it possible to post a one sided journal to balance the accounts?

Regards

James

Hi James

I had an instance where Sage crashed whilst saving a journal, so only one side was saved, leading to an imbalance. The Sage support line said there was nothing I could do myself, and I had to send the backup to them so they could alter it.

Luckily it was covered by the support package.

Might be worth giving them a ring if you have cover.

It depends...

If the problem is "Bucket Corruption" then you can do it yourself.

Run the TB report in the reports section of financials that it "Transaction Based" if it is correct then good news, I just need to know what version of Sage 50 you are running and I can tell you how to fix it.

If the balance is still wrong then the problem lies in a half journal and the underlying data is damaged, I suspect you may have other problems as well that might not be so obvious.

There are a couple of fixes you can do for this.

You could send me the data and pay me to fix it for you, the cost depends on who much/what is broken, I would give you a quote after looking at it.

At a year end you could wipe the audit trail and re-enter all the outstanding transactions (start up from scratch).
