Instant Accounts Year End Date Amend

I have entered 13 months data and have now realised the year end is incorrect. I set the date from when the business started (Jan 09) but should have been April 09 (In line with tax year). I have run no year end or month end proceedures during this time at all, just normal data entry and VAT returns.
Sage prices are £147.50 if you have sage cover (only have online cover) OR £294 without cover!!!
Can I back up the data. Then go into maintenance and rebuild. Then if I enter all company detail with the correct year end date and restore data from back up will this put the problem right.
Please HELP!!!!

Shocker!!
Did you not take a backup just before your year end? Sage does advise that you take two just in case one fails.
Is it completely unreasonable if you have a backup to restore and run your year end again?

I have taken back ups after every session on the accounts system. I have not run a year end at all.
The year end date needs to be amended before I can do this, but the system does'nt allow this as the date is fixed when you originally set up the company.

Sorry I misunderstood.
Log in as the manager and go to "Settings" then "Financial Year", make sure you've backed up and checked your data then just click change and amend the month your financial year ends perhaps?

Thank you so much for replying and trying to help. I wish your last solution was that easy. This is where the problem lies, with the Instant Accounts package you can't amend in settings as it says it is fixed and won't let you change the date.

I am running Sage line 50 version 10, (quite an old version which also did not have the option to amend year end) I am having the same problem.
I did exactly what kgray is proposing to do ie back up data, rebuild, change year end then restore. DID NOT WORK the year end had backed up as the original incorrect month.
I have been told the only version that you can actually change the year end is the SAge 50 Accounts Plus. Sage would want from me a whopping 800 to upgrade. Or the charges you mentioned for them to do it.
Does anyone know if you restore data to Sage 50 Accounts plus, then change year end, back up and restore back to Line 50 would this cure the problem?

If you are prepared to pay for my time send me a backup, I will happily restore it into Sage 50 and change the date, back it up and email it back to you.

Sorry I dont have a reply as I am having the same problem with Instant Accounts. I was told the year end was Aug 10 and have just been told it is March 10.
I have Instant Accounts v12 but cannot change year end as have posted 7months of transactions. Is there a cheap solution?
Hope so
Miche

Hi Bruce,
Do you still offer this service at all?
What sort of price are you charging if you do?
Thanks

Yes, the cost is dependant on how long it takes, if you had a huge data set with gigabytes of data it could take hours just to upload and download the data. If you have a small data set you can just email it.
The last few I have done have been around £25
