Backup Problem

OUr computer systems recently were all rebooted due to a number of problems with speed of running etc.
However, when I have rerun my Sage I have come across a major problem with the back up - this was taken the day before the computer was rebooted, it was checked for errors as normal and none were found.
When I restored this backup, none of the supplier/customer/bank information has been transferred over - when I checked the maintenace section, all the last transactions entered were all there but for some reason have not crossed over into the rest of the system. When I ran the check data facility, it has come up with over 65,000 errors, but these are all unknown supplier/customer in all of the transactions.

I would appreciate if anyone could help me out with this - I don't think we could afford the Sage Cover of £660 as we are a small company as it is.

Please please please could someone help me out?

Thanks

checking for errors in the data being backed up doesn't guarantee that the backup will be successful or restorable.

USB stick, perchance?

Restore your previous backup? Restore the backup to another PC and see what happens? Re-input the missing accounts? Start with a blank set of data and reconstruct the old stuff manually?

If £660 would sort it (and it doesn't sound to me that it will, btw), it'd be a small price to pay...

There are pay as you go alternatives to SageCover.

The backup has a problem, what of the data that was there before you restored, had that got problems?

How was the backup made? some people try and copy the files or use tape backup systems, THESE DO NOT WORK if the files are open and locked (eg user logged in). The Sage backup system is the only one you can 100% trust.

I would go back to the previous backup.
