Sageline50V11 crashed & has changed my password

Post by LeafGarden » 27 Oct 2009, 12:00

Hi

I'm running Sage Line 50 V11 on Vista.

I have been running the program fine for well over a year until a couple of weeks ago when I tried to log on using the standard factory setting Manager logon with no password. I got an Invalid password reply...
Have tried using caps lock for logon name, lowercase, Manager as the password + every other concievable combination. Tried repairing using the reinstall feature. Tried full removal & reinstall, System restored the computer to an earlier date when it was working, all to no avail. Ended up formating the drive & starting again.

All was well, reinstalled Sage after Re-format, loaded company info & all worked well until today. The computer froze & I had to do a manual shutdown (Ctrl,Alt,Del wouldn't work so held the power button down for 5 seconds). Re-booted & tried to log back on, the same problem has occured again.

Today I have tried deleting the queue.dta, deleted the Manager XML file in Taskopt file. Have gone through the Machineapps folder permissions checklist.

Still nothing.

Can anyone suggest anything else as I really don't want to have to go through another long winded reformat & then have the problem re-occur again. I'm wondering if any windows updates could be conflicting & giving it a funny turn

Oh & just to add, no-one else has access to my computer & I definately did not change any passwords/settings....

Many thanks

Neil

That's the problem. Unless you've done a custome install all your programs and data will end up in C:\Program Files - this is a non-starter on Vista. Try a custom install to a different directory such as c:\sage\accounts. You will probably need to check permissions, and make sure that Sage runs "as administrator". Better yet - upgrade to a Vista aware version of the software
