Shortfall generator

I am running Sage Line 50 version 13.02.30.0144
Creating a purchase order from "Shortfall Generator" has become increasingly slow and is getting worse.
Typically I select about 10 sales orders and they would contain between them about 30 to 40 products. Shortfall generator quite quickly compiles the list of items to be ordered. I "swap" to select them all and click on "create order". This can take several minutes and sometimes just hangs altogether.(It used to take about 10 to 15 seconds).
Also, if the list of items selected to "create order" includes items from more than one supplier, the purchase order (with no supplier name) is created instantly and the delay arises when an a Supplier account is selected.
I know I have a lot of product lines, currently 26,500 but this is reduced from over 30,000 recently when this problem wasn't happening.
When this problem first started, I deleted as many products as I could, re-indexed all ledger files and compressed data but this doesn't appear to help at all.
Is there some other housekeeping task(s) I could carry out to help the situation?
Thanks
Ron
