This is driving me mad, and I'm sure it can be done.
I have stock on order, and the purchase order has been created and set to on-order. Now I have sold some of that stock, even though it has not yet come in. So I have created my sales order but cannot allocate it due to insufficient stock, clearly. I have tried to manually 'amend' the stock allocation too and cannot do it for the same reasons.
In order that I don't sell more than I have on order is it possible to allocate this stock to sales orders and show what quantities I have availble?
Thanks

There is no feature to allocate stock that is on a purchase order to a sales order.
The nearest you can get is to turn on negative stock, which will allow you to allocate an unlimited amount of stock to orders (and ship them), even though the stock is not there.

Re: Allocating Stock on order
Hi,
If you are certain that the stock on order will arrive, then you could complete your purchase order to book it into stock, allocate the required amount to your sales orders but don't complete them until the stock actually arrives in.

A proviso on the suggestion from Ron is that you would not be relying on the delivered status of orders to authorise payments of invoices.
