Payment on Account

Post by philthfc » 15 Aug 2016, 18:21

We are starting to use Sage 50 Accounts Essentials for our account receivable - we often get customers overpaying for various reasons, as such although we can allocate part of the receipt to an invoice, we often have part of the receipt left which will be used to allocate against future invoices as and when they are raised.

Problem is having played around with this we seem to have issues - if, when we originally load the receipt, we allocate to the outstanding invoices but post the remaining receipt balance as a 'payment on account' - there does not appear to be a way of allocating this amount to a future invoices once it I raised.

So for example:

A receipt of £200 is received, there is an outstanding invoice for £100 which we allocate £100 of the £200 receipt to, we are left with a remaining £100 of the receipt which we set as a payment on account. A few weeks later we raise a new invoice for £200, we want to be able to allocate that £100 we had left from the previous receipt to this new invoice.

Surely this must be possible?

To match off a payment on account or a receipt on account.

Do a customer receipt or a purchase payment select the account pay the on account item and match it. The net amount is zero. The items are matched.
