Gaps in Supplier Address Labels

Post by sam63 » 02 Aug 2010, 15:32

Hi, I am using Sage 50 Accounts Plus 2009 v15.01.20.0191 and am having problems with the supplier address label report.

I am not very used to using the Report Designer, although I have managed to delete an unwanted field on the labels report. When my labels print though, there are blank spaces between the entries where another name & address should be and I am at a loss to know why! There are 3 companies set up on Sage and I'm wondering somehow the report is drawing information for the data of all 3 companies, instead of just the one I'm working on ie Company 3. (I still don't know why that would leave gaps, but I do know that if I don't highlight specific suppliers to print labels for and it therefore does labels for ALL suppliers, there are some printed that I don't even have in company No 3!!! Is there a way to specify that the information is collected from just Company 3's data?

Thanks, Sam :)

You will find there are some strange C_ADDRESS1 fields in the field list. The are "Compact" versions ie they have blank line suppression.

If you use these you should avoid the problem

Hi Bruce
Thanks for your suggestion. I have just tried to do this, but clearly I'm not doing something right, as all I end up with is pages of double/overwritten addresses! My labels report is just 5 lines as far as I can see, set out like this:-

Name
Address_1
Address_2
Address_3
Address_4

I tried adding C_Address-1 to the bottom of the other fields and also replacing all 5 of the Address-1/2/3 etc fields with the C_Address-1/2/3 etc ones, but that gave the same result! If you have time, please could you do me some step by step instructions - suitable for a beginner in Report Design?? Thanks, I appreciate your help with this!
Sam :)

Replacing ADDRESS1 with C_ADDRESS1 and so on will resolve the problem.

If ADDRESS2 is empty then C_ADDRESS2 will contain what was in ADDRESS3 C_ADDRESS3 will contain ADDRESS4 and so on.

Hi Bruce

Many thanks for your help - I tried it again and that does indeed seem to have sorted the problem, so I must have not done it quite right first time around!

Thank you SO much!!

I recently came across a very similar problem, but with delivery addresses having blanks in.

Came up with an excellent if rather huge expression that resolved it.

Dragging up an old post here!

So what was the "rather huge expression" you used?

It would have been a mass of concatenated ifs
