can't see new company in list

Post by shareena » 26 Apr 2007, 07:41

I have just added a new company in Line 50 V7 on the NT4 server.

I opened the new company on the users workstations, but, apart from 1 workstation, I can't see the new company in the list of companies as I launch Sage on the w2k workstations. I can see the previous 4 years but not the newly added company.

We're having to open the previous year 06/07 and then open the new company from there as it appears in the list then.

Can anyone shed any light as to what might be causing the new company not to be displayed in the list when Sage is launched?

Your help would be really appreciated.

Hi Shelly

Sounds a little weird.

My first thought would be that there is something wrong with the file that contains all the paths to the data.

On each workstation you will find in the sage installation folder a file called "company" it has no file extension. If you open this file with notepad you will see it is a plain text file listing the paths to the data.

I suspect there is a bad character or something like that on one line.

Thanks a lot for this suggestion. I would try it when I'm next in at work and see what happens. It does indeed seem strange that I can see the new company on 1 workstation and not the others. A bit of a nuisance that the users have to go in the old one first and then open the new company.

I really appreciate your help and would let you know if it works.
