I didn't untick the box for the archiving at the year end and processing the year end is taking ages - I have been waiting over three quarters of an hour and it's not even halfway through archiving nominal code 5000.
Can I stop it archiving?

Re: Running year end and archiving taking forever
If you un-ticked the box then it will not create an archive, I would imagine it is doing the year end.
You can speed it up by doing it on the machine hosting the data, you may also be able to clear out the old data this year to make it run faster in future.
See my year end guide for Sage.

I would go to bed and see if it has finished in the morning.
You can do some maintenance now to clear out the audit trail and this will make next time much faster.
However, you should have made an archive first. Making the archive takes very little time as sage just copies the files to a new location.
You could backup after completing the year end, restore your pre year end backup, create the archive, kill sage as it goes to do the journal, log back in clearing warnings as you go, restore your post year end backup and then clear the audit trail, delete all the old invoice and so on.
Doing it on the PC with the data will be much quicker.
Check your data, you may be on a bad network connection and that can increase the risk of error substantially when doing these "big" tasks.
