Barcode software for Sage Line 50

Hi all

We are currently using line 50 but need to improve our stock control.

Can anyone suggest a barcoding system that we can bolt on the side, i need to generate barcodes book stock with the reader and despatch orders with the reader.

Our stock control at the moment is shocking and never seems to match what our Sage stocklist says just down to bad management. So unless anyone can offer any better suggestions i think a barcode system is best.

We are a small business with a small budget so i can't afford to go and spend thousands on fancy barcode systems.

Any help hugely appreciated.

I don't think bar codes will help you with your issue.

You can buy systems, but at the end of the day, they will not control the stock. If your staff are stealing, if they knock stuff off shelves, put it in the wrong place, then it makes no difference.

The only thing it can help is in double checking that what you pick is what you think it is, so if you have very similar looking items and it is hard to tell the difference it might help.

If the items are picked to the order, then the stock going out should be the stock on the order.

Otherwise it is about management in a physical sense.

So perhaps we need help with process management rather than upgrading our systems.

I suspect you don't even need help, you know what yo need to do you just need to make a plan and work it.
