I am looking for some advice. I have very little knowledge of Sage Line 50 and i have been asked to set it up on a new computer which is running windows 7.
Our situation at present is - we have three computers which all have to access sage. We have the data file stored on a pc running xp at present. pc number two runs on xp and our new third pc runs on windows 7. Both of the pcs on xp can access the data file with no problems, although it can run slow at times. I followed the instructions with regards to installing sage on the windows 7 pc and at first it seemed fine - we had no issued with trying to access the data file.
We have now realised that a problem that we had before we upgraded to line 50 has reappeared on this new computer. A member of staff was inputing invoices onto the new computer running windows 7 and after each batch runs a report to check the values. On this report we have noticed that the last invoice is not shown on the report, even though when we look at the account to which the invoice was posted, it is actually there.
We had this issue with an old pc which was running on xp and this problem kept occurring. We thought that getting a new pc with more power would solve this, but it seems that the new pc running windows 7 has the same problem.
Is it an idea to move the data file to the new computer on windows 7 and get the computers on xp looking to this instead. if this is a possible solution can you point me in the right direction as to completing this change over? It will be a while before we are able to upgrade the other two pc's from xp to windows 7 and i need to find a way to get all three to see the data

Do you also have any ideas with regards to our speed issues....its three computers on a standard ethernet line which all talk through the bt router. I have thought about getting a stand alone server but its quite a bit of money to pay out for a small company if I'm not sure that it will solve the problem.
Any help or advice that you could give to me would be most gratefully appreciated. I'm a complete novice when it comes to dealing with sage and networking.
