Rebuild Advice

Post by Sonaso » 05 Aug 2011, 21:49

Apologies up front as I'm not sure if this is ok as one posting (as it's linked) or if it should have been separate postings.
We are using Sage v17 2011 on XP and need to Rebuild, I know we can elect to retain our Nominal ledger and creditor list & details etc but I'm not sure about our Products details. We have 2,000+ stock products and do not want to lose this information (nor re-enter it) ie product codes, details, ledger links. Also cost prices are recorded here via purchase orders/invoices and I'd appreciate any implications of a rebuild on this.
If we are unable to rebuild we may need to look at removing and reinstalling Sage but here I'm not certain:-
* where/how the products info is stored to save & restore,
* of the column layout required to import the product o/b's from an Excel CSV file,
* how this would affect the products incorporating Bill of Materials.
Sorry to ramble on. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Sonaso

You can certainly retain your Products & their transactions as they are held completely separately from the other data so you could, for example, remove everything else whilst retaining products & transactions. The one thing to bear in mind is that, if sales and purchase orders are removed then any allocations would be removed from the stock records as would any 'on order' quantities.
