software update error. Urgent!!
hi guys:
I've recently update my sage 50 accounts from 2009 tp 2010. After installed the 2010 version all my company lists are gone!! I have tried to convert back to 2009, the list is not there as well. I can see the company data located in programdata folder in my C drive, but cannot restore them with Sage software. Is anyone know how I can restore them please!!!so urgent!!! many thanks

When you say your 'company lists' are gone, what exactly do you mean?

hi john:
when you start the sage 59 accounts professional software, it should appear a list of all clients' name which you can choose and work on.
The list is disappeared after I installed 2010 version.

That would suggest the the licence for the installation of v2010 is single company only which would explain the Company List not appearing. If you go to Help -> About -> System Information -> Licence Information, how many companies does it show?

the 2010 version is Sage accounts professional too, as it is running on the other computer perfectly. It can enter multi companies as I am using on my laptop now. in fact it shows all the companies lists after installation, but after it upgrated automatically the lists are gone. weird!

Have you checked the company file ?
This should indicate what companies are available.
Open it up in Notepad
For example
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Accounts\2010\COMPANY.000
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Accounts\2010\COMPANY.001
The company file is often located at :
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Accounts\2010
Win 7
C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2010
Add the location of the other sage companies if they are not showing

As per bandonsage's post, go to the following folder:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Accounts\2010
Win 7/Vista: C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2010
In that folder will be a file called COMPANY - right click on open with Notepad and you'll see it contains the path to the single company that you can currently see in Sage. You can manually add the paths to the other companies and then Save after which, Sage will be able to access all the companies.
